Editorial Policy

Pride Rated is an independent editorial site. This page explains how we choose what to cover, how we evaluate products, and how we keep affiliate revenue out of editorial decisions.

1. What we cover

We write about products and services that matter to LGBTQ+ readers across dating, travel, health, privacy, finance, and everyday tools. We choose topics based on reader need, not affiliate commission rates.

2. How we evaluate products

For comparison articles, we use three reader-relevant criteria and apply them consistently to every product in the comparison. We publish the criteria on the article itself, along with the verification date.

We do not use star ratings or composite scores. Instead, we name a top pick and "best for" recommendations by use case, with the reasoning spelled out.

3. Sourcing and verification

Prices, terms, availability, and feature claims are verified against official sources. We cite those sources in the article or its metadata. Anything we couldn't verify is either removed or marked "not confirmed."

We don't fabricate tests, reviews, expert quotes, or personal anecdotes. AI-assisted drafts are fact-checked by a human editor against primary sources before publication.

4. High-risk topics

Articles about health, law, immigration, insurance, and finance carry a clear "general information, not professional advice" disclaimer. We date these articles, link to official sources, and route uncertain claims to human expert review before publishing.

5. Affiliate disclosure

Some links on Pride Rated are affiliate links. Compensation does not determine our rankings, verdicts, or recommendations. See ouraffiliate disclosure for details.

6. Sponsored content

From time to time we may publish sponsored articles. They are clearly labeled as Sponsored or Advertisementat the top of the page, use a separate URL structure (/sponsored/), and are visually distinct from editorial content.

Sponsored links use rel="sponsored nofollow". Sponsorship and affiliate revenue never determine editorial rankings, verdicts, or recommendations.

7. Updates and corrections

Articles display "Published" and "Updated" dates. When we correct a factual error, we update the article and note the change on the page. Cosmetic edits don't update the date — only substantive content changes do.

8. Inclusive language

We follow the GLAAD Media Reference Guide and theNLGJA Stylebook. We don't use "gay" as a shorthand for all LGBTQ+ people, we respect self-identified pronouns, and we avoid stereotypes, tokenization, and rainbow-washing.

9. AI assistance

We use AI tools to assist with drafting, summarizing, and translation. All AI-assisted work is reviewed and verified by a human editor before publication. We do not publish AI-generated content without human oversight.
